Tour Description
The tour leads you around the Royal Docks, the world’s largest impounded body of water and one of London’s greatest regeneration opportunities.
- Enjoy breath-taking views of the water and sky, framed by some extraordinary buildings and structures.
- Hear how plans have evolved for the development of the area.
- Experience some of the success stories and understand the scale and complexity of the regeneration adventure, where some of the most ambitious plans have faltered."
Recently declared an enterprise zone and supported with a renewed energy from the public sector, this area is scheduled for dramatic change leading up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where the ExCeL exhibition centre is an important venue, staging a number of events and medal ceremonies.
- Discover how the arrival of CrossRail at Custom House in 2017 will dramatically alter the perception of isolation and further advance the regeneration of this important part of London’s future.
- See the cable-car, linking the Royal Docks with the O2 Arena, take shape
The tour begins at Gallions Reach DLR Station and concludes at Custom House DLR Station.

Public Transport: There can be disruption to London’s public transport network and you are advised to check the Transport for London website (www.tfl.gov.uk) to ensure that there will be no delays to your planned journey.
Weather: The tour will go on irrespective of weather. Please note that the docks are very exposed and can experience strong winds and feel decidedly cooler than other parts of London. Please ensure that you have suitable clothing.
